2012 is going to be a big year for little people with hairy feet! ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ arrives in cinemas later this year.

The film tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, who sets out on a dangerous quest with 12 dwarves – they want to steal the legendary treasure of Smaug, a fearsome dragon who lives inside a mountain. You might remember Bilbo from the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ films – he’s the uncle of Frodo, the hobbit hero who travels to Mordor.

The makers of ‘The Hobbit’ will be hoping that this film bags them a pile of treasure too – between them, the three ‘Lord Of The Rings’ films won 17 Oscars, and made almost $3 billion (about £2 billion – that's 2,000 x £1 million!) in cinemas.
